adidas To Release First 3D Printed Shoe

The future is here. Adidas is simply calling this shoe the 3D Runner, and it comes with a price tag of $333.

The highly limited sneaker is equipped with an engineered 3D design that boasts varying densities across the black Primeknit upper. Avoiding any gluing or stitching processes, the 3D Runner also features a 3D-printed heel counter that is directly integrated into the midsole.

“This is just the beginning,” notes Senior Director of adidas’ Future team, Mikal Peveto. “Creating customized shoes based on an individual’s footprint – including their running style, foot shape, performance needs and personal preferences – is a north star for the industry and adidas is leading with cutting edge innovations.”

For those looking to cop, check the adidas Confirmed app to sign up today, with New York reservations opening tomorrow, December 13. Pairs can be picked up two days later on December 15 at adidas NYC, the brand’s new flagship store. A limited number of the shoes will also be made available on December 15 in London and Tokyo.
